I hate to say it…

…but in any and all elections including the general election I ask that the British voters vote for anyone, and I mean anyone who is not a Labour candidate.

Vote conservative, vote LibDem, vote UKIP – but don’t vote Labour. I hate to say that because I have, always, voted Labour. I read books about the founders of the Labour movement in Keir Hardie Hall. I listened in awe to some of the finest speeches made by politicians who were members of the Labour movement. I believed with a passion the truth that would come about with a Labour government – but now I have to abandon the whole movement because there are no loud cries from within the movement to stop the totality of infringement on human liberty in Britain.

The silence is deafening.

Why do I want everyone to abandon the government?

This and this.
A government that is so willing to take away the liberty of the people does not deserve to be in power for a very long time.

Liberal Democrat home affairs spokesman Chris Huhne called the proposals “an Orwellian step too far”.

He said ministers had “taken leave of their senses if they think that this proposal is compatible with a free country and a free people”.

“Given the appalling track record of data loss, this state is simply not to be trusted with such private information,” said Mr Huhne.

The Internet Service Providers’ Association said it was seeking more information about the proposals.

“In particular we want to know more about the Government’s intentions regarding “modifying the procedures for acquiring communications data,” said a spokesman.

In the run-up to RIPA being approved by parliament, human rights campaigner Privacy International argued that such an act would be a dangerous first step towards a “Big Brother” society.

According to Gus Hosein, a senior fellow at Privacy International, the latest proposals could be even more controversial.

“The idea that ISPs need to collect data and send it en masse to central government is, without doubt, illegal,” he said.

Vote this government out of power on this one single policy and strike fear back into parliament that it is the servant of the British people, not the master!

Thanks to Gary.

Well, I’m sure I don’t need to tell you that I’ll be going along with your wishes, Will. (My Labour M.P. is a self-serving bitch, anyway… we’ve crossed swords in the past… she’s as vile as the rest of ‘em.)

Damn, that is scary. They must be borrowing ideas from the Bush camp.
